About Carolyn Tomlin

Carolyn Tomlin has combined her 33-year educational career with that of writing and photography. Since 1988, she has published 19 books and over 7,000 articles in the secular and
Christian magazines, including: Texas Baptist Standard, CommonCall, Devotions for SBC Bulletin, articles for Mature Living, American Profile, Entrepreneur, Tennessee Home & Farm,
Missouri Life, Missouri Word & Way, State-by-State Gardening Magazines, Tennessee Magazine, GRIT, The Kansas City Star Newspaper, The Western Recorder, Baptist & Reflector,
and others. In 2009, Tyndale published the award-winning book, The Secret Holocaust Diaries: The Untold Story of Nonna Bannister, with co-author Denise George. The book has been
translated into 6 languages and is in the 18th printing. The book is in the process of being made into a movie. All books are available on Amazon and Kindle.

As a columnist, she writes “The Parent Column” for the Baptist & Reflector and contributes to
several weekly newspapers. “Hobbies with Heart” is a monthly column for Mature Living
Magazine
. The writer is enthusiastic about writing about events, festivals, the arts, and travel
across the South, encouraging people to visit. These are what make the South special
and promote hospitality.

Tomlin is a frequent speaker for women’s groups and teacher/parent workshops. As the co-founder/teacher of Boot Camp for Christian Writers, she teaches seminars on writing-to-publish at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama, and at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Seven books on writing to publish are available on Amazon. She speaks to universities, schools, churches and civic clubs on travel destinations while teaching workshops in China, Cuba, Russia, and the Caribbean. Traveling to 30 countries, she finds topics and photographs for magazine and newspaper articles.

Tomlin received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Union University; a M.Ed. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Ed, a certification in Supervision and Administration from the University of Memphis and has completed all coursework for the D.Ed. degree. Tomlin taught in public school, assistant professor of education at Union University and wrote grants for the Jackson-Madison County School System.

She is a native of Jackson, Tennessee. Her late husband, Dr. Matt Tomlin, was a Baptist pastor. As a member of Woodland Baptist Church, Brownsville, Tennessee, she writes grants to support numerous church programs and mission projects. She has an adult daughter and a son who has gone to be with the Lord. She has three grandchildren. Hemingway, a rescued dog, shares his life with the family.
